House of Cards was one of Netflix's biggest properties, running for six seasons and over 70 episodes.

The political drama followed the exploits of Kevin Spacey's Frank Underwood, a Congressman who tries by any means necessary to gain power in the government. Frank is portrayed as conniving, manipulative and cruel, and the show was often singled-out for Spacey's performance.

For his role, Spacey received numerous awards and wide critical acclaim, but after season five the actor was quickly dropped from the show following widespread sexual misconduct allegations dating back decades.

Netflix subsequently announced the production of the show's sixth and final season, which was to go ahead without Spacey, and with Robin Wright's Claire Underwood taking the lead.

In the final season, it is revealed that Frank died between seasons, and later on it comes to light that his former right-hand and closest friend Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) killed him to save Claire's life.
