In one of the all-time great series finales, Six Feet Under went all out in order to hit audiences with the best and most emotional conclusion possible.

During the episode, titled "Everyone's Waiting," the main characters try to come to terms with the death of series protagonist Nate Fisher (Peter Krause). Though the episode ties up all the show's loose ends and gives each character a fitting send-off, it ends with a shocking flash forward which shows the deaths of the rest of the family over the years.

Ruth Fisher (Frances Conroy) dies first, followed by Keith Charles (Matthew St Patrick), David Fisher (Michael C Hall), Rico Diaz (Freddy Rodriguez), Brenda Chenowith (Rachel Griffiths) and finally Claire Fisher (Lauren Ambrose).

It's a shocking and deeply moving ending, showing each character reunited in death with their loved ones, and in one fell swoop kills off the entirety of the show's remaining primary cast.
