10 TV Shows That Made Fun Of Their Fans

5. Animaniacs Tells Fans To Get A Life

Animaniacs was incredibly well written for a children's cartoon, and this hilarious bit ruthlessly mocks fans who nitpick the show to death.

The segment opens with a stereotypical fan typing away at his computer about inconsistencies and mistakes in the show, and while it sounds like a parody, these complaints are actually taken almost word for word from actual Internet comments at the time.

The show then introduces an organization called the Please Please Please Get A Life Foundation, which will help nerdy fans stop pointlessly nitpicking animated cartoons and find something useful to do with their time. Mostly that help involves hitting them over the head with hammers and anvils.

What's great is that the bit prepares itself for people to look too far into it. The animators fill the room in the beginning with easter eggs, and then the show mocks fans who would go back and check to see what's in there. "Call us before you rewind to see what was in the room in the opening shot!" And then they intentionally misspell the word "please" only to have the nerdy dude pop up and point it out before you can.

It's a pretty funny way to lampoon fans spending far more time looking for mistakes in shows rather than just enjoying them, and it's still just as relevant 20 years later.
