10 TV Shows That Marvel Seriously Needs To Make

7. The Pulse

What Is It? The Pulse was a comic series written by Brian Michael Bendis and focusing on the people who worked for a weekly section of The Daily Bugle, a section that focused entirely on superheroes. The series starred Jessica Jones, who was once a superhero herself named Jewel, as well as a private investigator. Also working on The Pulse were veteran reporter Ben Urich, who has a long association with Daredevil (he was played in the film by Joe Pantoliano) and Kat Farrell, who dislikes being forced to cover superheroes, who she refers to as €œCapes.€ The series also featured Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson and editor in chief Joe Robertson, plus Jessica€™s superhero boyfriend, Luke Cage. How To Do It Right? A series like The Pulse isn€™t likely to do as well in comics, but for TV, a series that reports on different superhero encounters could be great fun. And there€™s some groundwork laid already, with ABC having passed on A.K.A. Jessica Jones. Unused story ideas could be adapted for The Pulse, and superheroes could easily be reported on from a distance. That way, you can get away with working on a TV budget. Story elements like Jessica€™s former superhero life clashing with her new life, Kat€™s dislike of Capes, and Ben€™s connection with Daredevil could be handled in fun, small ways. Showcasing the fall-out from superhero movies would be interesting, much like the short film Item 47. But the real challenge would be The Pulse€™s connection to The Daily Bugle. As Sony owns the film rights to the Bugle as part of Spider-Man, that could pose problems. Ideally, some guest appearances from J.K. Simmons reprising his iconic performance as Jameson would be incredible, but that may just be a pipe-dream. If Marvel and Sony could come to an agreement about this, that€™d be a great opportunity to build on Marvel€™s cinematic universe.
