10 TV Shows That Most Accurately Represent Britain

7. Every Louis Theroux Documentary

A bona fide national treasure. Louis Theroux has been on our screens now for just over 20 years and shows no signs of slowing down. Louis began his documentary career following the weird and wacky, with his Weird Weekend series. Louis then effortlessly segued from UFOs and Swingers (not the same episode) to his When Louis Met series that showed Louis following famous faces around, his fish-out-of-water style enabling intimate insights into his subject matter.

Louis has gone on to tackle plastic surgery, crystal meth and even scientology. However, it is his awkward yet plucky style that has endeared him to the nation. Louis asks the questions that Brits want to know, and he is able to do so because he isn’t brash or imposing- he’s oddly charming and goofy.

What makes Louis so British is his often muted and darkly humorous responses to some of the most bizarre and insane people on the planet.

Only Louis could stand in front of the Westboro Baptist Church and with a straight face say, “Wow there were so many things that were offensive…that was amazing”.

In Louis, we trust.
