10 TV Shows That Pissed You Off Straight Away

6. The Embarrassing Production Values - Inhumans

One of 2017's most-hyped new TV shows was Marvel's Inhumans, which went into development after a planned Marvel Cinematic Universe Inhumans film was cancelled.

With IMAX partnering on the production, there was a reasonable expectation that Inhumans would set a new standard for glossy, big-budget, small-screen superhero fare, but from mere moments into the first episode, it became clear this wasn't the case.

Beyond the woefully leaden, exposition-heavy dialogue and wooden performances, the most surprisingly, infuriatingly inept aspect of Inhumans was its production values.

The costumes and makeup in particular were widely compared to bad cosplay, and aside from the CGI used to create gigantic teleporting dog Lockjaw - easily the highlight of the series - the VFX were pretty ropey as well.

It's a classic case of a TV show that looks cheap and expensive at the same time: we know millions and millions have been poured into it, and yet, from top to bottom the design philosophy makes it look like an upmarket season of Power Rangers. Too harsh? Not a chance.

Unsurprisingly Inhumans was quickly forgotten following its predictable cancellation in May 2018, though given the extremely polished nature of the Disney+ MCU shows, one hopes they might give the IP another go sometime in the future.
