10 TV Shows That Ruined Other TV Shows

The Expanse is one of those rare, once-in-a-generation sci-fi TV shows that thoroughly humbles, even shames, just about everything else in the genre.

So richly crafted is its world and characters that basically every other recent show featuring spacecrafts and outer space looks positively "mid."

There are a few exceptions, for sure - Star Wars' Andor, for one - but The Expanse has especially made mincemeat out of Paramount's newer Star Trek projects.

Impossible though it is to deny Trek's statuesque, decades-long presence in the genre, the newer, glossier era of Trek TV - that is, Discovery, Picard, and Strange New Worlds - feels like shiny junk food compared to the meticulous technical craft and deep-dish storytelling of The Expanse.

If newer Trek feels like a mere time-passer - "something to watch" while scrolling on your phone, you might say - The Expanse both demands and rewards your absolute attention, as all great sci-fi does.
