10 TV Shows That Should’ve Been Awesome (But Utterly Failed)

7. Firefly

Rsz 1rsz Firefly1 Firefly will always have a place in the hearts of many as a show that was unfairly torn from audiences by the evil Fox Network. There is very little to say about Firefly that isn't already known €“ most people probably clicked on this hoping Firefly was on it. For those not in the loop, Firefly was a Joss Whedon project labeled as a "space Western" following a group of outcasts from the law in a dystopian future as they take freelance jobs in mostly-illegal transportation of goods and people. Firefly is the ultimate example of how a dedicated (read: somewhat obsessive) fandom can turn an utter failure into a resounding triumph. At the time that is exactly what Firefly was: a failure. Cancelled mid-season after only eleven episodes, Firefly was just a kooky sci-fi show that had no discernable audience €“ aside, of course, from the near 5 million viewers per episode. Firefly also benefited from a huge period of discovery by people who hadn't watched it before its cancellation, and what seemed like a tragic failure sputtered and shuddered back to life. First came the film Serenity, and since then several Serenity comics have been set in the world of Firefly. If Firefly utterly failed commercially as a TV show, it has succeeded outrageously as a story.

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
