10 TV Shows That Weren't Worth The Controversy
9. Iron Fist
Almost six years removed from its second and final season premiering on Netflix, the Iron Fist series really just feels like a hazy, half-remembered dream - such is the impact it made upon audiences.
You're far more likely, however, to remember the significant backlash against the show even before it made its debut.
Many immediately dismissed Iron Fist as yet another tired "white saviour" story, while others took umbrage with perceived cultural appropriation, that of course this legendary, mythical martial artist would end up being a rich white dude.
Even accepting that Danny Rand was always a white man in the comics, there were many disappointed that the Netflix series didn't offer a revised take for modern audiences by casting an Asian man in the role.
And yet, even if Netflix had done that, fans still would've been stuck with one crushing reality - the show is just insanely, soul-sappingly boring.
Under showrunner Scott Buck, Iron Fist was such a clunky mess of snoozy subplots and underwhelming action that, even with a more contemporary approach to diversity, still would've been aggressively mediocre at best.
It's telling that while many have called for other Marvel Netflix heroes Jessica Jones (Kristen Ritter) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) to be brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper, Iron Fist is something the fandom has basically collectively agreed to forget.
