If you are already a fan of this show, you know why anyone would recommend Buffy in any capacity, be it as a sick-day binge or a serious months-long commitment. Out of seven seasons, there were only two bad ones and even they had undeniably classic material.

This was Joss Whedon’s big success after the Kristy Swanson-helmed film was such a bust. Whedon was given more creative control and the proof is in the pudding. For the uninitiated, you should start with the pilot. If you sleep through parts of season one, you won’t find yourself lost in the mire of complex plotlines. There is an overarching season-long plot, but most of the episodes are structured around villains of the week.

Some lighthearted episodes to watch during your moments of lucidity: “Halloween”, “Band Candy”, “Superstar”, “Once More with Feeling”, and “Tabula Rasa”. Though only a handful of the many that could be recommended, these are great choices to lift your spirits when you’re feeling your worst.
