10 TV Shows To Binge During A Sick Day

7. Designing Women

Designing Women
CBS

A classic late ‘80s/early ‘90s sitcom about four Southern women running an interior design firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Ask any of the gay men and women in your life and they will tell you that Julia Sugarbaker, as played by Dixie Carter, is one of the most iconic characters of her time. Known for her precise diction, withering intonation, and sharp-tongued monologues, Julia was the reason to watch this show. Her character was bolstered by a superior supporting cast, each of whom played their parts to a T.

Designing Women ran for seven seasons (five of which were strong), so there is plenty of material to keep you company. Start at the very beginning and try to stay conscious during episode two, during which Dixie delivers Julia’s most famous monologue about her sister’s turn as Miss Georgia.
