10 TV Shows To Watch If You Loved Game Of Thrones
2. Frontier
Set in 1700s Canada, Frontier follows outlaw Declan Harp, portrayed by Game of Thrones fan favorite Jason Momoa (aka Kahl Drogo), during Hudson Bay's political upheaval over the area's sprawling fur trade.
Like Arya and her kill list, Declan Harp is out for revenge - cutting down everyone in his way. We first meet the part-Irish, part-Cree protagonist in a scene where Harp brutally murders a group of British soldiers, save one, who is told to run and deliver the message: "run on home and tell him [he’s] here.”
“He” turns out to be the psychotic Lord Benton, Harp’s sworn enemy and one of the most powerful men in the Hudson Bay Company. It is Lord Benton whom Harp blames for the death of his family. Apparently, the North isn’t the only to remember past grievances and deliver swift(ish) justice. Described by Momoa as “the funny version: me, wrapped in fur, covered in blood, killing English people, avenging my family’s death,” Dylan Harp’s viewpoint is but one of the many, as Frontier follows various perspectives of those fighting for control, money, and, sometimes, their lives.
As the series continues, loyalties are tested, battles are fought, and victims are avenged. If you miss the political power struggles and avenging cut-throats of Game of Thrones - or just happen to love the brooding and dangerous Great Kahl - Frontier is the show for you.
