10 TV Shows To Watch If You Loved Game Of Thrones

3. The Tudors

The Last Kingdom Game Of Thrones
BBC

Set in the Kingdom of England during the 16th-century, The Tudors chronicles the period of Henry VIII's reign, from the dissolution of his union to Catherine of Aragon, his many marriages, and his death.

The Tudors also throws out the stereotypical assessment of the chubby redheaded monarch by casting British heartthrob Jonathan Rhys Meyers. With the political maneuvering skills of Cersei, the marriage minipulation skills of Tywin, and the royal power of King Joffrey, King Henry VIII's multi-faceted personality will immediately draw in the Lannister lovers.

Fans of High Garden should definitely give the dramatic period piece a chance—Natalie Dormer proves her royal versatility by perfectly portraying two very different queens (Game of Thrones' Queen Margaery and The Tudors' Anne Boleyn), who suffered very different, though equally grotesque, public deaths.

Whether it’s an attempt on the King's life or his affairs with saucy side-pieces, The Tudors masterfully transforms the traditional vision of the real-life monarch into a young, charismatic, and undeniably sexy king. (Again, Henry VIII is performed by Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I cannot stress that enough.)
