10 TV Shows Which Eerily Predicted The Future
5. The Lone Gunmen - 9/11
When X-Files spinoff The Lone Gunmen launched with a pilot episode about a hijacked commercial aircraft being flown into the World Trade Centre, there's no way the writers could have foreseen the tragic real-life events that would occur in New York six months later.
The episode's premise would have been dubbed the epitome of bad taste had it aired after 9/11, but instead goes down as one of the most infamous examples of scripted TV predicting the course of history.
Besides the hauntingly prophetic attack on the Twin Towers, the short-lived show's pilot revolved around a government conspiracy that was connected to the incident, so in a sense, the episode predicted the Loose Change movement too, or possibly inspired it.
Fans of parent show The X-Files have also claimed Mulder and Scully's adventures have foreshadowed real-life events, particularly Edward Snowden's whistleblowing revelations regarding the US government's surveilance practises.
