4. Friends - Facebook
A year before Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook and kickstarted the social networking boom, Ross and Chandler used a weirdly similar service in the Friends episode The One With The Memorial Service.
“Have you seen this? It’s our new alumni website for college. It’s cool! You can post messages for people, let everyone know what you’re up to,” says Ross when he stumbles upon the website.
Granted, platforms like MySpace and Friendster were up and running by 2003 when this aired, but the social network featured in this season 9 episode specifically revolved around college alumni, just like Facebook did at launch.
Chandler's response is classic: “Oh great, a faster way to tell people that I’m unemployed and childless.”
No doubt there are countless people out there who thought something similar when they stumbled upon Facebook for the first time.
