When Netflix resurrected Arrested Development for its long-awaited fourth series, it wasn't just a one-off.

The streaming giant has taken its sweet time greenlighting further misadventures for the Bluth family, but season five is in the pipeline, set to hit five years on from its predecessor. Has it really been that long?

Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz is overseeing the new episodes, and the regular cast headed up by Jason Bateman and Michael Cera will reprise their roles as the show's dysfunctional family members.

Season four left an unholy mess for the new episodes to clean up, with Lucille Austero missing, Buster arrested, Michael's relationship with his son strained and Gob becoming the new president of Bluth Company. Yep, that's going to end well.

Bateman recently took to Twitter to confirm that the cameras were about to roll on the new season, which is due to arrive on screens next year.
