Kevin Costner has always been a great actor, but he always brings his A-game when he's on horseback. The Postman, Dances with Wolves and now there is Paramount Network's Yellowstone. The gritty drama follows the violent and cutthroat world of the Dutton family, which controls the largest contiguous ranch in the entire United States. They are a satisfying mix of mafia and royalty.

Costner plays their father and relentless patriarch John Dutton. This formidable, yet dysfunctional, family defend their property against constant threats from land developers, attacks from the Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. When they aren't fighting their enemies, they become their own worst enemies. The sibling rivalry alone between Wes Bentley and Kelly Reilly slowly boils into a volcanic eruption of chaos.

The series comes from Academy Award-nominated writer Taylor Sheridan who is the scribe behind such influential films as Sicario, Hell or High Water and Wind River. Sheridan continues his tales of harsh, open, unforgiving landscapes inhabited by violent people doing violent things and transforms that form of storytelling into a very compelling hour of television.

Yellowstone's first season is available via the Paramount Network app. A second season is coming on June 19th.
