If they ever begin handing out awards for the mismanagement of acting careers, David Caruso will be well-positioned. As it is presently, however, the poor thing is rather left out in the cold. Back in the 90s, he was the undisputed star of a little show called NYPD Blue. Perhaps you've heard of it. He received so much attention and acclaim for the popular cop drama that it seemed only natural that he could leverage that into a major film career. Caruso quit the show right when it was at its peak, shocking viewers and making waves within the industry for leaving a show that had been designed as a vehicle for him four episodes into the second season, after not receiving a requested raise. But despite appearing in a couple of well-reviewed films, he was unable to establish himself as a leading man, and his movie career fizzed out surprisingly quickly. Happily, he seems to have learned from his early mistake -- he was cast in a spinoff of the immensely popular CSI (CSI: Miami) in 2002, and stuck with the show for an impressive ten years.
