4. The Doctor Teams Up With J.K. Rowling - Doctor Who

Per its fantastical nature, Doctor Who is capable of getting away with a lot, and though everybody's favourite doc, David Tennant, certainly seems like he's up for anything, even he felt that showrunner Russell T. Davies' most fan-serving idea was a bit too much.

At one point, Davies extended an invitation to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling to write an episode of the series, but when she declined due to her ongoing commitments writing the Potter books, Davies had another idea - giving her a role in an episode.

In 2008, Davies came up with the idea for a Christmas Special in which Tennant's Doctor would have to fight his way through witches and wizards in order to reach Rowling, whose written ideas have started to become reality.

But Tennant wasn't a fan of the idea, feeling that it would be less a fun crossover than an outright spoof, and in Davies' own words, "We've got to keep him happy," so the Who/Potter team-up was thrown in the bin.
