10 Underrated TV Shows You Need To Start Watching

9. Rabbit Hole

Kiefer Sutherland's new thriller series Rabbit Hole may have been marketed as yet another identikit espionage joint created in the mould of his career-defining hit 24, but don't let that fool you - this is some seriously fun television.

Look past its generically glossy production values and Rabbit Hole is far from the formulaic, self-serious slop you might well be expecting.

This is a show far more aware of its own absurdity than you'd reasonably anticipate, gleefully indulging in wildly over-the-top plot twists with a sure wink at the audience.

Just when you think you know what's going on, the show flips the table over and completely changes things.

It's tremendous fun waiting to see what daft twist the writers will serve up episode after episode, aided by the electric chemistry between the ensemble cast, especially Sutherland and his on-screen father, Charles Dance.

Sure, it lacks the zeitgeist appeal of 24, but remains a textbook example of a show that knows precisely what it is and delivers accordingly - across a tightly-paced eight-episode season no less.

Reviews have been solid albeit not great, but if you're craving a certified Dad Show that also isn't completely braindead and patronising, Rabbit Hole is one of the year's most purely entertaining series to date.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
