Lord Baelish was one of the most calculating and intelligent men in all of Westeros. From the first season this man demonstrated a knack for wit and scheming, yet it was also hard not to notice his ever-changing accent.

At first, Littlefinger adopted a formal English accent, but this seemed to gradually diminish as time went on, and by the second season, an Irish lilt had manifested within his voice. Bizarrely, this only seemed to increase as the show continued.

As well as becoming gradually more Irish, Littlefinger’s voice also became raspier throughout the show, so that by the time he finally met his end in the finale of Season 7, he sounded closer to Christian Bale’s Batman than to his original self.

Fans have speculated that this evolving accent was part of Littlefinger’s deceptive and manipulative personality. Whatever the explanation, however, it made for amusing television.
