10 Unintentionally Funny Moments In Star Trek

8. Kirk's Rock C***

Star Trek The Next Generation Masks
NBC

The seventh episode of the original series’ debut season, there’s some serious behind the scenes pedigree responsible for “What Are Little Girls Made Of?”. The script came from Psycho author Robert Bloch and touches on Lovecraftian mythos, a decision which has fascinating implications for the Star Trek canon.

None of which makes it any less hilarious when Captain Kirk grabs a random rock to defend himself with and instead leaves us with the impression that someone in the show’s prop department must have had a serious grudge against Shatner.

The unmistakeably, inexplicably phallic rock makes the scene impossible to watch, with a frowning Kirk wielding an oversized rock penis as he tries to uncover the villain’s plans.

The rock has gone on to stardom of its own, with a Twitter account set up to PhotoShop the “Star Trek Rock Dick” into every iteration of the franchise.
