10 Unintentionally Funny Moments In Star Trek

2. Gorn (again)

Sorry, Enterprise—there was no way we were letting you away with bringing back Gorn without also conjuring up the attendant laughter that his every appearance causes.

Originally airing in 2005, the fourth season two-parter “In a Mirror, Darkly” featured an appearance from the much-mocked reptilian alien and former opponent of Captain Kirk Gorn, and this time he wasn’t merely a stuntman stuck in an obviously very motion-limiting suit—now he’s an all CGI creation!

And the next time anyone tells you CGI is superior to practical effects, it’s worth showing them this iteration of Gorn’s scene. The cartoony villain looks laughable not only by modern standards a decade and a half later, but even for the limited CGI available in 2005 his appearance is more “kid’s daytime cartoon lead” than “serious foe for a sci fi series”.

Cathal Gunning hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
