10 Unpleasant Facts About The Making Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer
3. The Cast Hated The Library Scenes
The high-school library is one of the most iconic locations in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here, the Scooby Gang talk about their ideas and plan their next move against the forces of evil.
As the wisest and most experienced member of the group, Giles is at the centre of these discussions, and he often talks for long periods of time, dumping the audience with floods of expository dialogue.
Though these scenes are fairly straightforward compared to other moments in the Buffyverse, the cast didn’t enjoy the filming process at all. They had to sit and listen to Giles’s lengthy explanations again and again, so they were immensely thrilled when they got to the end of the third season:
“When we finally blew up the school at the end of Season 3, and we were in the library for the last time, everybody breathed a great sigh of relief because these became the bane for us when we were filming…”
Though Giles continues to deliver plenty of exposition in the later seasons, these conversations become much more dynamic as the Scooby Gang grow into adulthood.
