10 Unscripted Supernatural Moments That Were Kept In The Show
2. German Castiel
In Season Thirteen, we see the Winchester brothers travel to an alternate universe where they were never born, resulting in the apocalypse going ahead and causing angels and demons to be at war with each other, not caring about anyone who got caught in the crossfire. With the alternative universe, we got to see many beloved characters back, including Bobby Singer and Charlie Bradbury, but also alternative versions of characters who were already alive in Sam and Dean’s world.
During the episode Exodus, Dean travels to the alternative world to search for his mother and Jack who are trapped there. In a scene where he’s searching for Mary and Jack, we see Charlie being tortured by the angels. The angels aren’t able to crack her so they call a specialist who turns out to be an alternative version of everyone’s favourite angel, Castiel.
This version of Castiel is cold, mean and menacing, he is blind in one eye and has a surprising German accent. Actor Misha Collins decided to ad-lib the accent in order to make this alternative version of Castiel stand out and be completely different from the Castiel we know and love. However, many fans didn’t enjoy the accent choice, something that Misha Collins himself apologized for after the backlash from fans.
