10 Upcoming Anime You MUST Watch

5. Uzumaki - うずまき

Attack On Titan Eren Thumb
Production I.G

Uzumaki is a horror manga released back in 1998, which has been compiled into three volumes. The books picked up an English translation at the turn of the century, and after two video game adaptations, and a live-action film, the series is finally being adapted into an anime television series by Production I.G and Adult Swim.

The series will premiere in 2020, and it will actually show up in the United States via Adult Swim's Toonami before it premieres in Japan. Interestingly, the show will also be done completely in black and white, which will visually emulate the stylized dark fantasy of the books.

The manga is about the people of Kurōzu-cho, a city plagued by supernatural spirits and a curse. The strange occurrences revolve around a spiral shape, and they continued to happen, one after the other. A short teaser was released in 2019 to promote the show, which you can watch here.

The anime will be released as a four-episode mini-series and will remain true to the source material. It's unlikely there will be another series to follow the one releasing in 2020, as it should cover the entirety of the manga.
