10 Upcoming New HBO Series To Be Excited About

3. Codes Of Conduct

You'd imagine that Steve McQueen had a lot of freedom over choosing his next project, giving his last one received critical acclaim, enjoyed box-office success, and just so happened to take home three Oscars, including Best Picture. It says a lot, then, that the 12 Years a Slave director has chosen to direct the miniseries Codes of Conduct for HBO, rather than focusing on another movie (that would presumably get him another armful of awards).

It'll focus on a young African-American man trying to make his way into New York's high society. Devon Terrell will play the ambitious Beverly Snow, while Paul Dano will star opposite as the man who introduces him to that world. Helena Bonham Carter and Rebecca Hall are on-board to play two privileged members of that high society.

The established cast is excellent, while newcomer Terrell has the full trust of McQueen, who is known for really getting the best out of his actors. There promises to be plenty of drama and some mystery as well, and you'd imagine with McQueen behind it it'll offer a fairly unflinching view and criticism of the world and issues such as race and class.
