10 Upcoming New Sci-Fi TV Shows To Be Excited About
2. Green Arrow And The Canaries
As the Arrowverse attempts to move on from its established status quo in a post-Arrow world, it's offering fans something new and exciting with its next two installments. And, while we've already looked at Superman and Lois, one of those new installments could very well be Green Arrow and The Canaries.
Set in the tech-reliant year of 2040, the show will follow the next generation of heroes as they rise up and stop evil from resurfacing in Star City two decades after the Green Arrow's sacrifice made it a crime-free zone. The heroes in question will be Oliver's daughter Mia, and Black Canaries Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake.
With a concept unlike anything else the Arrowverse has provided thus far, it stars Arrow's leading lady Katie Cassidy, Juliana Harkavy and Katherine McNamara - all of whom reprise their roles from the original show. And even though it hasn't been picked up yet, its unique presentation and strong cast are elements that could very well work in its favour.
The response to the backdoor pilot episode was incredibly positive, and it ultimately ended up being the most-watched (non-Crisis) episode of Arrow's final season - so there's clearly a demand for it. And after that opener, it's easy to see why.
A futuristic Arrowverse show led by three strong women - one of whom deserved far better from her eight-year run on Arrow - sounds like it could be exactly what the next chapter of the Arrowverse needs.
