10 Urgent Remedies Needed For Doctor Who

9. Build Up The Hype

Doctor Who Series 12 Fixes

In early August this year, rumours abounded that head writer Chris Chibnall had been sacked. What followed from BBC was deafening silence, the rumours simply ignored. What was even more bizarre was that there was no release of details or photos 'leaked' from the filming of the upcoming series to curtail the online gossip.

Leaks and general gossip of who and what was coming up in the show all added to the hype and excitement for each Doctor Who season of the RTD era. This, combined with a full season trailer that gave one an indication of which companions, guest characters (not actors) and villains would appear, would also peak the interest of both Whovians and casual viewers of the show.

Even more so than the leaks, BBC could do an awful lot more to build up the hype of the show, including releasing teaser trailers well in advance of the show's broadcast. The fact that the broadcast dates were not released until just two months before the premiere may have been related to backstage issues, but it's not a problem that the BBC can afford to make again.
