10 Urgent Remedies Needed For Doctor Who

7. Get Rid Of All That Exposition

A little less conversation a little more action, please.

The amount of complex exposition thrown at the audience has always been an issue that the show has struggled to overcome, even dating back to the classic series. The quality of actors such as Tom Baker and David Tennant turned this potential weakness into a strength, delivering the dialogue in a frenetic manner that seemed quite fitting of their personas.

The same can't be said of our current Doctor though, with Whittaker's rattling off of techno babble not matching her laid back (if somewhat hyperactive) personality. So, rather than try to get her to deliver lines in a David Tennant manner, the writers must work on creating scripts that suit Whittaker herself. Heck, you don't even need to explain every minuscule detail if the script work is strong enough, instead making the lack of scientific detail given an interesting characteristic trait for Whittaker's Doctor.

This problem, like many on this list, has to be addressed at the writing table. Dialogue should be closer to that used for Smith and Ecclestone, enough detail to keep the audience and the companion(s) informed, with a knowing wink to the camera when the techno babble is used.

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
