10 Urgent Remedies Needed For Doctor Who

5. Get Rid Of The Sonic Screwdriver

The Sonic Screwdriver has been an iconic staple of all things Doctor Who and holds a place in this Whovian's heart. Unfortunately, my joy for this iconic device has greatly diminished, thanks to its excrutiating overuse. Hell, it's pretty much the chief plot device for each episode.

This simply must stop, and the solution is simple, if heartbreaking. Like a partner who you love dearly but has sent you down the wrong path, it's time to sever the relationship. Yes, the Doctor is no longer allowed her favourite toy, or at least not until she learns to use it properly.

As to why it vanishes, well that's something the writers have to decide. Making a joke of the situation would work, with the companions staging an intervention with The Doctor over her addiction to the device. Then if she can prove that her behaviour is good without her favourite toy, she'll be allowed to use it at Christmas.

Most importantly, the removal of the sonic screwdriver will force the writers to come up with inventive ways of problems being resolved. Seeing The Doctor utilising her brainpower to solve a solution without the use of guns or weapons is the very thing that made the show so popular in the first place.
