10 Most Violent Shows On TV

10. Hannibal

210 Like most things in this brilliant yet woefully low rated show, the violence on Hannibal is pretty refined. Perhaps horrifying would be a better word for what goes on in Hannibal because it is not violent in the typical sense of the word. Most of the horrific scenes come after someone is dead which is not necessarily violent. Yet a show in which there is a tower made of corpses and a man tries to play a person's vocal cords as an instrument. When we get actual violence, it becomes all that much shocking because it breaks the general calm of the show. Seeing Hannibal strangle Miriam Lass was striking and the fight between him and other serial killer Tobias Budge was equally affecting. The question that strikes me most when watching Hannibal is how they get it on network television. The gore on the series is more likely to be found on something you'd see on premium cable than on NBC. And it goes toe to toe with some of the cable shows on this list in terms of violence.
