10 Voice-Actor Deaths That Impacted The Simpsons

10. Christopher Collins (1949-1994)

Christophercollins1 Actor and comedian Christopher Collins - also known as Chris Latta - made three appearances in the first season. He was the original voice of Mr. Burns, voicing the billionaire 104-year-old in "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" (uncredited) and in "Homer's Odyssey." He also voiced the host of the TV reality-crime show America's Most Armed and Dangerous in "Some Enchanted Evening." Collins was given the chance to voice Moe, but disagreements with producer Sam Simon led to Hank Azaria taking over the bartender, and Collins left the show to return to his comedy career. Collins tragically died in 1994, three years after leaving The Simpsons, of a cerebral hemorrhage. At that point the roles of Mr. Burns and Moe had been solidified by Harry Shearer and Hank Azaria respectively, and it's doubtful Collins' other characters were greatly missed. But as far as The Simpsons go, it would have been a disaster if the voice for two such central characters passed away so early in the run.
