10 Voice-Actor Deaths That Impacted The Simpsons

8. Lawrence Tierney (1919-2002)

Donbrodka When the writers decided that Bart Simpsons would get caught shoplifting over Christmas, only one Hollywood tough-guy could fill the role of the Try-N-Save's head security guard Don Brodka ("That's right, Don Brodka.") That man was Lawrence Tierney, an American actor most well-known as John Dillinger in 1945's Dillinger. In Season 7's "Marge Be Not Proud", Tierney would be on the right side of the law, busting Bart for attempting to pocket the latest fighting video game Bonestorm, despite Bart's best arguments. ("If I wanted smoke blown up my ass, I'd be at home with a pack of cigarettes and short length of hose.") Brodka would show up- silently- two more times in Springfield: first, he was seen laughing at Nelson as the school bully walked down Main Street with his pants around his ankles in "22 Short Films About Springfield;" in The Simpsons Movie, Brodka was briefly seen in the mob that marched on the Simpsons' house with torches. But the Simpsons could have made more trips to the Try-N-Save, with more run-ins with Don Brodka ("That's right, Don Brodka") had Tierney not died of pneumonia in 2012 at the age of 82.
