10 Walking Dead Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spin-Off
8. The Governor
The first 'big bad' of The Walking Dead, The Governor, played by David Morrissey, still has much more to offer. First appearing in season three as the intimidating leader of Woodbury, The Governor was a truly deranged psychopath with many acts of unhinged violence.
The Governor is first introduced in the series when he captures Andrea and Michonne and brings them back to Woodbury. The Governor puts on a front, acting warmly to his new members, and even sparks a romance with Andrea. But his real motives soon emerge with the harboring of zombie daughter Penny and his plans to take over the prison.
Once this plan fails, and Woodbury is destroyed, The Governor struggles on his own but eventually manipulates a new group which he uses to demolish the prison. But, this also leads to his own demise and exit from the show.
There's already proof that a spin-off show focusing on The Governor would work, as two episodes of the fourth season focused solely on his post-Woodbury struggles. A spin-off show could follow Philip Blake before adopting his nickname, and becoming the leader of Woodbury. It could show how he immediately survived the outbreak, and reveal Penny's death.
This show could also include pre-apocalypse flashbacks showing Philip as a family man before his wife's death in a car accident. Although The Governor's post-apocalyptic reign is finely detailed in the show, not much is clear about his past, and would serve as a great stand-alone spin-off.
