10 Wasted Simpsons Characters That Deserved Better

7. Allison Taylor

In terms of friends, Bart certainly got the lion's share when it comes to the Simpson children. He has Milhouse, Nelson, and on occasion Martin, Richard, Lewis, and even Wendell. Even Maggie has Gerald, though the two are really more like rivals. Lisa however, drew the short straw.

In the early days, she had friends in Janey, Sherri and Terri, and Ralph, before the formers almost turned into bullies, and Ralph grew into more of a friend of Bart's. She did have Allison Taylor, a classmate who could match and even surpass her intellect for one glorious episode, until she was inexplicably taken away from her.

The two were so similar that they started out their relationship as adversaries, for both Miss. Hoover's attention and first chair saxophone in the school band, but 22 minutes later they were great friends. There was never any mention of her leaving Springfield, so why did she rarely interact with Lisa again?

Like Ruth, she turned up in the background of many episodes throughout the years, but this was the opportunity to give Lisa a friend on the same level as Bart and Milhouse. Instead, like Marge, she was left to live a relatively lonely life, with no one to really connect with outside of her family.
