10 Wasted Simpsons Characters That Deserved Better

When Maude Flanders was killed off, not only did it leave a hole in Evergreen Terrace, it drastically changed Ned Flanders' character. All of a sudden he was a widower with two young sons, and while he didn't necessarily look to move on from his wife straight away, it was inevitable.

Homer began making a lonely hearts video of him, and years later he even dated movie star Sara Sloane before finally settling down with Edna Krabappel, but there was one fleeting love interest of Ned's that deserved better.

Rachel Jordan was introduced in the same episode that Maude passed away, so it may have been too soon for him to truly move on yet, but there is no denying that she was perfect for him. She was a devout Christian, and there was slightly more of an edge to her than his wife, as she was the lead singer of the rock band, Kovenant. She certainly would have kept him on his toes.

She returned a season later to Springfield, and even went on a date with Ned, but he clearly was still not over Maude. Instead of having Ned scare away what was clearly the best match for him, if anyone was going to be the new Mrs. Flanders, it should have been Rachel.
