10 Ways Arrow Would Be Different If It Were On Netflix

7. A Protagonist With A Personal Life

Daredevil is more than just a vigilante who goes out at night. He’s Matt Murdock, a practicing lawyer trying to reconcile his past and maintain his secrets while also dipping his toes into the dating life. There’s many facets to his character and as a result, he feels like a fully realized, three-dimensional character.

Unlike Matt Murdock, Oliver Queen’s life has lost a lot of its depth in recent seasons. When he’s not fighting crime or fighting with Felicity, he doesn’t actually seem to do anything. His whole existence is devoted to his superhero role and his relationship and the result has been a very weak protagonist.

There's very little room for Oliver to grow in these current confines and the formulaic nature of what he does has really stilted his character.

By affording their heroes more time to breathe and develop, along with less secondary distractions, the Netflix heroes are objectively more interesting. Maybe if Oliver ends up becoming mayor, that’ll help flesh out his personal life and let us see him in a new light.

Connor loves movies, comics, and TV, and is trying to write for people who feel the same way. When he's not sitting on the couch with his laptop, you might find him lying in his bed with his laptop.
