10 Ways Buffy The Vampire Slayer Was Almost Totally Different
1. The Show Should Have Ended After 5 Seasons
Nowadays when a show comes to the end of a season, the showrunners do whatever possible to leave the door open for another. With the way shows bounce around from network to network, and the surplus of tv reboots, writers would be fools to tie up their endings with a neat little bow.
However, when Buffy was on the air it was really strange for a show to end and then be picked up again later down the line. So when Whedon wrote the end of his series to be the finale of season five, he did something that just cannot be taken back... he killed the main character.
The thing is, when Whedon was approached with a ton of money TO come back from it, he had to find a way to dig himself out of the fiery hellhole he'd written his main character into. Luckily Buffy exists in a world of magic because in practice it was actually a lot easier to do then it sounds.
Even though it wrapped the show up neatly, it's crazy to think the show could have ended with our beloved slayer dead in the ground. Thank God it didn't end there, as season 6 gave us Once More With Feeling and Tabula Rasa, not to mention the Dark Willow storyline!
