7. Betsy Brandt (Marie) - The Michael J. Fox Show
Much like Dean Norris' new series, the actress playing kleptomaniac purple-fan Marie (Betsy Brandt) also had two shows airing at the same time, albeit very briefly. The first two episodes of The Michael J. Fox Show aired all of three days before the final episode of Breaking Bad did, which was rather convenient as it allowed us to depart ourselves from Breaking Bad slowly. Betsy Brandt plays the wife of Michael J. Fox's character, Mike Henry, who is essentially Michael J. Fox if he were a news anchor instead of an actor. Mike has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and as such decided to spend time at home with his family, but now he's back and working as a news anchor again. Fox takes his condition in good humor, having no problem with
these uncomfortable types of headlines. What can I say, some people will do anything for the sake of a pun. The comedy is fresh, witty and downright hilarious, but the show doesn't seem to have picked up its audience. Its audience is dwindling in the region of three to four million viewers each week, a fact made all the stranger as it airs opposite the now terrible Two And A Half Men, which is steadily and thankfully losing viewers by the week. Hopefully the show will find its footing and will be a mainstay for NBC, even if it moves away from its Thursday night time slot. But still, one thing we have learnt from the last two entries on this list is that the Schrader's have a strong work ethic!
