10 Ways Gotham Has Redeemed Itself

One of the few highlights from the first season of Gotham was the fall and rise of Oswald Cobblepot. Beginning his career by working for Fish Mooney, he is able to threaten and murder his way to the top of Gotham’s criminal underworld.

In order to keep that power, he had to surround himself with people that could keep him protected. The most important team member to date has been Butch. Having worked for Penguin after being brainwashed, he is able to prove his newfound loyalty by having his hand cut off and spying on Theo Galavan. In the time since then, he has run things in Penguin’s absence and has attempted to undermine his mayoral campaign. Currently on the run, he may prove to be a powerful enemy to his one time boss and advesary.

The other main member of Oswald’s inner circle is Edward Nygma. Having bonded during the second season, their friendship has grown into a full blown bromance. Edward’s cunning and genius have helped Oswald succeed in his new position as Mayor, and has caused Oswald to even look at him romantically. With a complicated relationship with the Riddler and Butch possibly looking for revenge, Penguin’s team may end up helping him rise higher while also ushering in his downfall.
