10 Ways Lost Was Almost Completely Changed

10. Jack Was Going To Die (And Be Played By Michael Keaton)

Lost wound up amassing one of the most iconic casts on television for a spell, even if most of the actors ended up...not really doing a whole lot once their names were out there. Evangeline Lilly is making up for lost time for adding a double x chromosome to the world of The Hobbit, and Josh Holloway was great in that one episode of Community, but for the most part... ...Matthew Fox, especially, has been absent from our screens since the show wrapped, besides doing the method body transformation thing to play a sinewy serial killer in an Alex Cross movie. His mysterious doctor Jack wound up becoming the de facto leader of his fellow island crash survivors early on in Lost's life. Originally, though, he was supposed to get killed off in the first episode €“ presumably so that you'd know that NOBODY IS SAFE. Also ABC wanted Michael Keaton to play Jack, not this no-name Fox character, which would've been a neat bit of stunt casting to get people tuning in, and killing him off meant not having to spend most of the budget on his salary.
