10 Ways Sons Of Anarchy Must Continue

4. Recasting Is A Dangerous Game

To the casual observer, it would appear that a prequel to Sons Of Anarchy would have a far easier job of getting over with fans of the original series than the putative Mayan spin-off show. That€™s not necessarily the case, however. The key issue in creating a prequel that vibes with fans€™ expectations is casting. Speculation as to whether a name actor would be tapped to play John Teller, Jackson€™s father: currently, the completely baseless rumour has Brad Pitt about to sign on. Casting someone to carry that heavily hyped and iconic character would be hard enough, but the show will also need to recast some of Sons Of Anarchy€™s most famous roles for their younger selves. That includes Opie€™s dad Piermont €˜Piney€™ Winston and Lenny €˜The Pimp€™ Janowitz€ and at some point, Clay Morrow, who was the last of the First Nine to join the club in 1972, and Gemma Madock, who met John Teller in 1978 in a whirlwind romance. How on earth can any young actor be expected to follow heavyweights like Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal? They€™d have to be cast for their looks as well as their talent in order for audiences to suspend disbelief. Recasting such well-known faces is a dangerous game.
