10 Ways To Bring Back Firefly
Take my love, take my land, but give back Firefly...
Firefly will be 18 years old this year.
Beginning its original run in September of 2002, and being cancelled just three months later in December of the same year, the consensus on its cancellation is that it happened far too early.
After all, a run of only fourteen episodes is hardly enough to get a story going, but somehow its incredibly limited run was still able to hook viewers around the world. It has developed a massive cult following and is still being enjoyed almost two decades after its initial release.
And, if the powers that be were to pump a little love into the franchise, it could most certainly make an impressive comeback.
After all, sci-fi has proved to be very profitable of late, with shows like The OA, Westworld and The Expanse all being well-received in recent years, and Firefly definitely deserves another chance at success. Not to mention we're currently in an era where TV revivals are all the rage, and none are more deserving.
Here are 10 ways that Firefly could be brought back, and what we could hope to see.
10. HBO Prequel Series
HBO have gone from strength to strength over the last few years, and a Firefly prequel series might be just the thing to bring Mal and the gang back to our screens.
When you consider the epic scope of Game of Thrones and the lasting appeal of Band of Brothers, its hard to deny that HBO would be capable of giving us a story involving the events of the Unification War that would do the original series the justice it deserves.
After all, it was one of the least explored aspects of the show's wider world, and even the tiny glimpse we get of the War in the pilot was enough to get viewers' blood pumping.
HBO could no doubt do a lot with the gritty source material, and taking advantage of the mostly unexplored territory of Mal's time with the Browncoats would be an excellent way to play to their strengths.
