10 Weirdest Decisions In Star Trek History

9. Rios Staying In The Past

Watching the second season of Star Trek: Picard, many fans theorised that Rios would be taking his new 21st century love-interest Teresa and her son Ricardo back to the future with them in the end - similar to what happened with Dr. Gillian Taylor in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - but very few expected him to want to stay in that time period after everything that happened.

In Star Trek lore, the mid-21st century is infamous as one of the most brutal and violent times in human history and an era of worldwide nuclear war. On top of that, Rios experienced the hardships of our time first-hand in the second season, being deported against his will for having no documentation.

Rios was originally against remaining in the 21st century, but in the penultimate episode, Hide And Seek, he decided to stay, and worked as hard as he could for the rest of his life to protect a world that he knew was doomed, probably just for the thrill of it.
