10 Weirdest Decisions In Star Trek History

6. Picard And The Others Reversing Their De-Aging

The Next Generation episode Rascals featured one of the weirdest transporter accidents we've ever seen in Trek. Picard, Guinan, Ro Laren, and Keiko O'Brien were beamed aboard the Enterprise and materialised aboard the ship as 12-year-olds with all of their memories intact.

Before a solution was found, the episode focused a little bit on the possibilities this gave the characters to relive their childhoods and live life much longer - before it eventually devolved into a Ferengi-takeover storyline out of nowhere - but by the end of the episode everyone who was de-aged decided to completely reverse the effect.

They wouldn't have even had to remain as 12-year-olds. Dr. Crusher said that they would continue to age normally if nothing was done. Now that this method is known, there's really no reason why anyone in the Federation should need to age past their prime. Every time they would reach old age or their bodies started to strain, they could just recreate the transporter accident from this episode and go back to being young and healthy.
