10 Weirdest Decisions In Star Trek History

7. The Hansens Bringing Their Daughter Into Borg Space

Magnus and Erin Hansen made possibly the worst parenting decision in Star Trek history by deciding to bring their daughter Annika (AKA Seven of Nine) with them on their scientific mission into Borg space.

They were some of the earliest humans to see the Borg. At the time the Borg were only a rumour in most of the Alpha Quadrant, so their true threat was not yet known, but as the Hansens learned more and more about the collective hive mind and the assimilation process it became clear that close research of this species put them all at serious risk.

Predictably, their ship, the USS Raven, was eventually discovered and Magnus, Erin, and Annika were all assimilated.

Their passion as scientists was admirable, but it would have made much more sense to leave their daughter home on Earth, possibly with Magnus's sister Irene or some other family member. Anywhere would've been safer than the territory of the most terrifying and violent empire in the galaxy.
