10 Worst Breaking Bad Episodes

9. Breakage

Breaking Bad
AMC

The fifth episode of season two, written by Moira Walley-Beckett and directed by Johan Renck, Breakage sees the fateful introduction of Krysten Ritter's Jane Margolis - Jesse's landlord and future girlfriend.

The episode is one of the few relatively positive moments in the series for Jesse, seeing him move into his new apartment, meeting Jane, and talking to Badger, Combo, and Skinny Pete about getting them on board his and Walt's meth business.

This is also one of the first moments where Hank begins to be shone in a different light, with his macho-man, jock-like exterior being chipped away in the wake of his stand-off with Tuco. Despite being given a promotion at work, Hank suffers the first of his panic attacks in what was a powerful display of the effects of PTSD for television at the time.

What holds Breakage back however is the lack of much screentime for Walt, with Heisenberg only being given a handful of scenes, the bulk of which are spent at home arguing with Skylar over keeping secrets from one another. Walt and Skylar certainly have more than a few of those sorts of arguments during the course of Breaking Bad, and sadly the one in Breakage is often one people just don't remember as much.
