10 Worst CGI Moments In The Arrowverse
4. Crisis On Earth-X - CGI Supergirl
Supergirl has taken flight a lot in the five years that the show has been on the air and over the course of those five years, the production team have used multiple methods to bring it to life.
For up close shots, they tend to have Melissa Benoist do some great wirework on a green-screen and then add her into the skies of National City. This approach has had various degrees of success over the years, but more often than not, it looks great.
The other method didn't really make its presence felt until Supergirl moved to The CW and that's the complete CGI model of the Girl of Steel.
Much like The Flash's CGI double, she's particularly used whenever the show requires her to fight with another super-powered threat. That's passable provided we don't see her face, but it's hard to deny that CGI Supergirl didn't stick out like a sore thumb in the Crisis On Earth-X crossover whenever the Arrowverse heroes did their annual money shot side-by-side.
While the animated Ray was protected by his golden glow and Killer Frost's ice entrance had distance working in its favour, the CGI model of Supergirl couldn't rely on either. Though the hair flowed better than it did in previous instances, it didn't look like hair and the texture of the body looked like soft plastic. It might have been passable if it wasn't levitating above real people - something that made it stand out for all the wrong reasons.
