The Walking Dead has something of an obsession with The Wire. Now granted, the majority of your high falutin' TV fans will also have an obsession with HBO's ground breaking, peerless drama about the Baltimore drug, police, journalism and political game, but it's a show that's about as far away from zombies and silly sub-plots as its possible to get. Excluding maybe all that union shipyard nonsense form the second season nobody likes. Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel), Chad Coleman (Tyreese) and Lawrence Gilliard Jr (Bob Stookey) are all veterans of The Wire, and the explanation for all why all of them have cast is simple: I love The Wire, says Robert Kirkman. I think that every actor thats been on The Wire is absolutely fantastic. But the problem is, The Walking Dead is not The Wire. Tonally, creatively, genre-wise, it's totally different. All of which conspired against Gilliard's Bob Stookey from the off. A former army medic with a dark past (is there any other sort on this show?), Bob was introduced during the fourth season premiere and...didn't get much further than that. Dying before the season was out, he never got chance to develop much from being a bit of a crybaby. Bit of a waste of an actor.
